Doctor Doctor, I feel like a deck of cards. Kidding. We’ll tell you how we do feel though, we feel like getting a bit wild. The London Pavilion is home to the wonderfully weird and one of a kind venue that is The Piccadilly Institute. Styled as a hospital, this places’ off the wall décor is captivating, and well and truly trippy. So put on your scrubs, get the nurse to give you a shot, and make sure to drink plenty of liquids.
Fantastically twisted décor, The Piccadilly Institute is styled top to toe as a weird and wonderful insane asylum and the eccentric theme runs throughout. Tables are adorned with faux wheels to emulate wheelchairs and bodies hang fruitfully from the ceiling (They’re faux too though, no sweat) The Institute contains 6 separate rooms all with their own distinct bar, so the place is a labyrinth of props and colour. Keeping to the theme, it’s also decorated with elements of the periodic table, protective eye wear and hospital bed like seating areas. There is just so much going on that you’re likely to forget that you’ve not actually been hospitalised.

The most imaginative selection of drinks vessels in town, The Institute serves up cocktails on an impressive menu as long as a Grandad’s dressing gown as well as: fishbowls served in giant Rubix cubes, selections of shots in test-tubes and tall drinks served in syringes and medicine bottles. Now if that’s not enough to have you uhmming and ahh-ing, we think what you’re looking for is an Off Licence. Each of the 6 rooms offer beats equally as diverse, from House to Commercial Pop, Garage and old school Hip Hop, you’re sure to find a room made as if just for you.
A delightful combination of the beautiful and the bizarre, the Institute is colourful and imaginative, housing an atmosphere that is wacky and fun coincidently attracting a crowd who are equally eager to let their hair down. All staff are suited and booted in authentic looking scrubs and an eager team of nurses patrol the floor insisting you buy your dosage of ‘medication’. It’s novelty appeal does tend to attract a touristy crowd, but what that does do is ensure the place is always suitably rammed, and carrying an excited buzz that’s hard to top elsewhere.
Twisted, dark and a bit creepy but in the most fascinating way. Let’s be honest, everyone loves a novelty night, but what’s great about The Institute is that the novelty doesn’t seem to wear thin. Visit a different one of the unbelievably detailed rooms each time for more abstract discoveries and an altogether different experience that make the Institute entertaining time and time again… And when you’ve made it through all 6 rooms, go back and repeat steps 1 to 6. Doctors’ orders.
