What's The Score

Aloha to the West End’s answer to a Hawaiian vacay, Mahiki. As the ultimate tropical party destination, this fun-loving bar is the El Paradiso of Mayfair and makes frivolous sophistication the main focus of Soho nights out. While it might not be all flower garlands, scorchio sunshine and hula-hula grass skirts, Mahiki is pretty much the closest you’re going to get to that once-in-a-lifetime holiday experience without even having to board a plane. Its swanky city setting and air of exclusivity ensures an evening embodying the life of a glamorous socialite for anyone stepping over the threshold.

The Venue

Filled with Tiki-inspired decoration throughout, this two floor tropical haven is creatively colourful without nearing the eye-sore end of the spectrum. From the outside, Mahiki could be any old West End venue with its big, heavy ‘look at me’ doors and somewhat scary-looking security. But on the inside, its plush furnishings, bamboo-clad walls and, of course, exotic foliage makes it pretty hard to believe that the well-trodden streets of Fitzrovia rest just a few feet away. Embracing those all-too-often sought after holiday vibes, Mahiki’s quirky tropical theme offers just the right amount of Honolulu edge for an effortlessly entertaining environment. Really, the only thing missing here are some hot white sands, clear blue waters and a jealousy-inducing golden tan; one that doesn’t come out of a bottle that is!

Beats & Booze

From treasure chest cocktail sharers to potent memory-wiping Zombies, nights at Mahiki certainly come at a cost. But it’s not hard to see why with its elaborate variety of creative, handcrafted concoctions and upmarket clientele. Of course, there’ll be no shortage of rum blended tipples and by that, we mean that the pirate’s favourite poison is served by the absolute bucket load. Join the crowd of pampered and preened 20-somethings dancing the night away to upbeat chart hits with the odd 90’s throwback classic thrown in for good measure.

The Scene

Unsurprisingly, Mahiki’s high level of exclusivity brings with it a crowd appreciative of a first-rate service and quality cocktails, so expect to sit side-by-side some of the city’s finest young professionals and jet-setting socialites making a quick pit-stop on their way to the next party-perfect destination. Who knows, a night spent in Mahiki could even see you brushing shoulders with our favourite red-headed Prince himself, as some of our most-loved Royals have been known to frequent Mahiki. Not impressed by your royal highness? How about some A-list celebs instead? Paris Hilton, Lady Gaga and Rihanna, to name a few, have all been spotted hanging out at Mahiki and enjoying the delights of its fabulously fruity cocktails. With this many famous faces on the guest list, we can’t help but think there might be an unwritten rule that you haven’t really made it until you’ve graced this Tiki-clad den with your presence.

The Final Word

Despite its renowned status within the London bar scene, Mahiki’s open door policy and animated characteristics mean it effortlessly manages to retain a no-drama, no-fuss atmosphere without so much as a hint of pretension. This vivacious Polynesian paradise lets you be a Honolulu Honey for the night with a frozen coconut cocktail in hand. You never know, an evening spent in Mahiki might later see you drunkenly scouring the web for the next flight out of Heathrow. You can say Mahalo to the potent Tiki brews for that one!
